Recent successes

The most recent Development Lab focused on 15-30 minute short film scripts created to the brief - situational comedy (with hilarious banteras the cherry on top).

The result? 

Seven laugh-out-loud scripts, one pagers and presentations, with four projects already in production.

Four Parts of the Development Lab

Part 1
Weeks 1-2


Team building, brainstorming and writing the outline.

Part 2
Weeks 3-6


Working on the first draft and peer review.

Part 3
Weeks 7-10


Development of the second draft and table reads.

Part 4
Weeks 10-12


Pitching practice, pitching to producers and de-brief.

Participation in the Lab

I invite a maximum of 15 writers to participate.

Suitability for the brief

Writers can apply with the sample of their writing, showing their suitability for the brief, including the genre, subject matter and the quality of writing.

Writers' responsibilities

Writers will need to meet the following requirements:
  • Attend at least two live sessions
  • Offer feedback to at least two other writers
  • Work in a collegiate manner
  • Write a script strictly to the brief and pass D. Scott-Jones' final review

Opportunity to pitch

Writers must meet the requirements of the Lab before they will be given an opportunity to pitch to the producers
